The Linux version is very broken, you can't close popup windows like the settings window and the start of the tutorial, and you also can't select units. The windows version also fails to download "updates" when started via Wine.

I have think this is a city builder T_T
but it's a rts, so it's a fun rts.

Now that the full game is out, please consider adding the native Linux build to GOG. Or even better, sell it directly from here, on itch.io.

This game looks really interesting (the Age of Empires vibes tell me I’m going to love it), but I don’t want to register a Steam account to get the ability to buy the Linux build.

Hey! We submitted a native Linux build to GOG at the same time as the Windows build. We're just waiting for them to make it available. :)

Nice, they are now shown on their store page, they only took longer to be available than the Windows build.

As promised, I’m buying it right now ;)

Hope you enjoy the game!

I have only played the first scenario (teaching the basics: resources gathering and buildings), but what I saw so far is a confirmation that I am going to have a lot of fun with The Fertile Crescent.

It’s really nice to see it released at a time when we are so starved for “traditional” RTS.

GOG please. 👌

*Edit: Steam won't let me purchase it for some reason. I give up trying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(+1)

That's really weird that Steam doesn't let you purchase it? What happens?

We aim to get to GOG for 1.0.

(+1)

I dunno, It won't process my card and it doesn't give me PayPal as an option.

Thanks, I'll wait for it on GOG.

wow this game have changed a lot since i first saw it back in 2018 or so

its on steam now

This game looks fun!. Is there a chance the full game will release on Itch.io or GOG as well?. As popular as Steam is, I can't really support it in good faith. I also feel an Appimage release for the Linux version would do wonders for cross-distro compatibility and long-term playability.

Hi, this is something we have been considering, and so there is a chance this will happen, but we can't promise anything at the moment unfortunately.

Just bought it on steam (yeay, proton et cetera). Have played a bit of Hoards - freaking awesome friend! :)

Only one suggestion, under the display settings add a checkbox for: Boomer CRT effect. You know, warped corners and scanlines, yum.

Hey, thanks for the feedback and the idea. :)

Oh also an ultra minor thing. Option for Colemak-DH keyboard layout or just let the user set the hotkeys.

You can customize hotkeys in the Steam version, or did it lack some features you need?

I don't think you need Proton though since the game is native for Linux?

Yeah, that’s absolutely correct. Sorry for the confusing messaging, what I meant was that Steam is my preferred platform for purchasing games for such reasons I mentioned. Not that it turned out to be relevant as TFC seems to not be on sale on Itch as I thought at the time of writing :P

I have two ideas for this game. They might not work with the code, but they sounded at least a little cool in my head.

1. Domesticated animals. You can domesticate boars into pigs and rams into sheep! You can farm them, control them, and use their other resources (like hides). There could also be a shepherd to watch over them. To domesticate them, you could capture a few and research domestication, and boom! Pigs and sheep!

2. You know how boars will gang up on your people? Do they only attack the person who hunted them, or your whole hunting group, or the closest person? If they can attack more than just the person who attacked them first, could they kill the bad people in alpha mission? If not, it would be very cool if they could. It would probably start as just a little hack known to few, but it would make the game much more interesting.

Thanks for reading my non-sensical ramblings!

Hey, thanks for the ideas!

This is an awesome game, it is simple, but so fun. Though it is disappointing that there is no way to remove or fill clay pits. They get in the way of other constructions.

(+1)

Hey, thanks for the feedback! In the Steam version, we did add it so that depleted Clay Pits are automatically removed, although at the cost of reduced soil fertility for the tiles under it.

Oh, awesome!

Is there any way to mod the game? Any parts that could be open sourced?

We didn't design it to be moddable, unfortunately, as when we started this, was just a fun project, and so we didn't know it would get to a point where anyone would want to mod it. It's made with Unity Engine.

32 bits? :(

Unfortunately, yes.

The newer Steam version suppprts 32-bit though.

I am wasting my time.

Is it difficult to point out that it is 64 bit software?

The_Fertile_Crescent_linux.x86_64.zip :(

Hi there. I've just downloaded and played the game. But, I have some problems loading my save game. I'm from SUSA, a very fertile crescent city, and would like to help in any case.

Hello! Unfortunately save games are a bit broken in this version. We are no longer maintaining it as we are focusing on the Steam version which is currently in Early Access.

(+1)

Is there a chance of releasing on GOG after early Access on Steam, as I'd prefer to purchase there?

Hi, we haven't made any plans for this so there is not much to say yet. However, we will definitely assess this in the future. Sorry if that didn't fully answer your question, but at this point we just don't know 100%.

(+1)

Thanks for replying, as I will add this to my future purchase down the line.  "If you do, decide later to release it on GOG as it's a must-have for me.

Also, I enjoyed the demo as it took me right back to the good old days of gaming with a solid foundation & excellent gameplay that kept me wanting more.

I'd love to see you guys make a populous remake.

Thanks for the feedback! Appreciate it :)

Hey, do you added localization support? What is priority for localization?

We plan to buy 2 copies of game on steam, but luck of Russian localization it's a blocker...

Hi and sorry for the slow response! We plan to add localisation later in Early Access or for v1.0. No languages have been confirmed yet.

this game slaps

Care to elaborate?
